Michael's Trip to the DC/Maryland Area, Followed by a Drive up to Pittsburgh,
Before Catching
a Plane Home to Houston
November 11th to November 18, 2005

I went to Maryland to visit Blair High School's Females in Science and Technology Conference, a one-day series of workshops and presentations designed to engage females in the idea of pursuing careers in science and technology.  Over the next several days, I visited the school (and spoke with Susan Ragan about the idea of doing something similar in Houston).  In between the conference and the visit to the school, I explored Washington, DC again.  Then I drove to Pittsburgh, PA, to attend and participate in the Practices Workshops and Alliance Meetings (sponsored by NC-WIT, National Council for Women in Information Technology) held at Carnegie Mellon University.  My time in Pittsburgh was fairly heavily committed to the conference, but I did manage to take a few pictures on the drive from Maryland to Pennsylvania, and in Pittsburgh.  Click on the thumbnails below to see pictures, Mostly of DC and Pittsburgh.

The images of this trip were taken with a Canon 10D digital camera, using either a Tamron 28-200 mm or a Canon 75-300 mm lens.

Michael Sirois

Flew Continental Airlines to Reagan National in DC, rented a car and drove to College Park, MD.  I stayed there for the next several days while I visited Blair High School and DC.  Shots in Part One are largely in DC.  I took the Old Town Trolley Tour since part of my novel takes place on that tour.  Pictures in this section include flying into DC, driving to Maryland, the DC Metro, the first part of the tour (monuments and war memorials, mostly).

The trolley tour is continued in Part Two, including the National Zoo, the Metro back to MD, a gross discovery in my hotel room, leaving MD and driving to Pittsburgh, downtown Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Airport.
